A Família Black, Banda União Black (1977)

[FR] Au début des années 70, un nouveau mouvement musical naissait au Brésil, qui faisait suite au précédent, tropicalia (le mouvement rock-psyché brésilien). S’inspirant à son tour du grand frère américain, le Black Rio se nourrissait de soul et du funk initié par feu James Brown. Banda União Black était le backing-band de Gerson King, figure emblématique du mouvement.

Le Black Rio ne dura guère, mais le potentiel musical qu’on lui imagine (funk et samba) lui permet de vivre aujourd’hui un revival. Banda União Black n’y coupe pas et sort un nouvel album après un quart de siècle de silence discographique. “A Família Black” est quant à lui extrait de leur premier album éponyme sorti en 1977.

[EN] In the early 70′s, a new musical movement came up in Brasil, picking up after the previous one, tropicalia (the brasilian response to psychedelic rock). Also inspired by the big american brother, Black Rio used soul and the funk initiated by James Brown (RIP). Banda União Black was the backing band of Gerson King, leading light of the scene.

This movement quickly vanished, however the musical potential it had (a melt of funk and samba) allows it to revive nowadays. Banda União Black is part of it and releases a new album after a quarter of a century of silence. “A Família Black” is an extract from their first eponymous record released in 1977.
