[FR] A l’heure où le reggae est en période de gestation, le rocksteady prend la suite du ska. C’est le début du ralentissement du rythme jamaïcain. Nous sommes dans les années 60, et la Jamaïque, subissant l’influence de la soul américaine, produit de nombreux groupes vocaux, parmi lesquels Keith Rowe & Texas Dixon, plus connus sous le nom de Keith & Tex. Alors qu’il a à peine 17 ans, Keith Rowe écrit cette chanson, “Tonight”, sur le chemin de retour de chez sa petite amie. Les harmonies vocales inspirées des duos américains tels Sam & Dave et The Righteous Brothers feront le reste.

[EN] At the times when reggae wasn’t even born, rocksteady is just the thing happening, taking over from ska. It’s the beginning of jamaican rhythm slowing down. We are back in the 60′s, and Jamaica, under the influence of the American soul, produces a bunch of vocal acts, among which Keith Rowe & Texas Dixon, better known as Keith & Tex. At that time when he’s still 17 years old, Keith Rowe writes this song, “Tonight”, on the way from his girlfriend’s house. Their harmonies, inspired from American duets by the likes of Sam & Dave and The Righteous Brothers will do the rest. A little song that warms the heart.
