Electric Relaxation, A Tribe Called Quest (1993)

[FR] A Tribe Called Quest (une tribu nommée quête… ça sonne mieux en anglais n’est-ce pas) est un groupe de rap américain originaire du Queens formé en 1988 et qui sera l’un des pionniers du jazz-rap aux côtés de Gang Starr et The Roots. Ils sortent un premier album en 1990 et rencontrent le succès l’année suivante avec The Low End Theory. Suivent trois albums avant la séparation du groupe en 1998 dont Midnight Marauders en 1993 sur lequel on trouve ce très sautillant “Electric Relaxation”.

[EN] A Tribe Called Quest is a US rap band based in Queens and formed in 1988. They will be one of the pioneers of jazz-rap alongside other acts such as Gang Starr and The Roots. They release their first LP in 1990 and meet success the following year with The Low End Theory. Three more LPs will follow until they disband in 1998, among them Midnight Marauders in 1993 which features this groovy “Eletric Relaxation”.

Seran uno de los pioneros del jazz-rap junto con Gang Starr y The Roots. Editan su primer LP en 1990 y alcanzan el éxito de masas al año siguiente con The Low End Theory. Llegarían a grabar tres discos más antes de su disolución allá por 1998. Entre ellos Midnight Marauders (1993) donde aparece éste excelente “Electric Relaxation”.
