Can’t Get Satisfied, Brother Jack McDuff (1967)

[FR] Bassiste de formation dans le groupe de Joe Farrell, McDuff troque sa basse pour l’orgue Hammond à la fin des années 50. Il sera ensuite à la tête de plusieurs groupes dont l’un sera accompagné par un jeune George Benson à la guitare.

La musique de Brother Jack McDuff ne s’explique pas. Elle s’écoute. Elle vous transporte directement dans les années 60. Et c’est justement en 1967 que sort l’album Tobacco Road dont est extrait “Can’t Get Satisfied”. [EN] Jack McDuff began his musical carreer playing bass in Joe Farrell‘s band. In the late 50′s he swapped the bass for the organ. He will later lead a few bands with a young George Benson playing guitar.

There’s no point in trying to explain McDuff’s music: you have to listen to it by yourself. It transports you right in the middle of the 60′s. It’s precisely in 1967 when the album Tobacco Road came out, with this song “Can’t Get Satisfied”. Jack McDuff’s catchy and uplifting performance simply puts you in a good mood.
