Né en Caroline du Nord et nourri à la soul food locale, Lee Fields est de ces chanteurs qui n’ont pas eu la chance de prendre le TGV Motown-Stax mais qui ont pourtant fait leurs preuves en livrant étapes après étapes des 45T devenus classiques aujourd’hui.
“Honey Dove” est probablement une de ses plus belles ballades, sortie en 1973 en version originale sur l’album Problems et réarrangé en 2004 par The Expressions emmenés Jeff Silvermann et Leon Michels (El Michels Affair).
My World, son nouvel opus est à venir pour juin chez Truth &Soul. Et on peut d’ores et déjà le classer dans la case Brooklyn’s finest aux côtés de Sharon Jones, The Budos Band ou El michels Affair. On dit merci le backing band composé entre autres de Tom Brenneck, Homer Steinweiss et bien sûr Leon Michels, rien que ça !
