Dark Night of the Soul

[FR] Le super-projet musical de 2009, c’est sûrement celui-ci. Brian Burton aka Danger Mouse (Gnars Barkley, Danger Doom, Jay-Z’s The Grey Album) s’associe à Sparklehorse dont il avait produit le dernier album en 2006 et réunit autour de lui rien de moins que Julian Casablancas (The Strokes), The Flaming Lips, Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animal), Black Francis (Pixies), James Mercer (The Shins), Iggy Pop ou encore Suzanne Vega.

Ce all-star crew sera enfin accompagné du réalisateur David Lynch, qui sait être là où on ne l’attend pas, chargé de l’univers visuel du projet. Un livre sera également édité, illustré d’une centaine de photos du maître lui-même.

Une affiche qui met l’eau à la bouche. La sortie de Dark Night of the Soul est prévue cet été.

UPDATE : suite à des disputes avec EMI faute d’accord sur les droits, l’album a été volontairement mis à disposition du grand public en streaming. Le livre quant à lui est en vente sur le site officiel accompagné d’un CD-R portant la mention “For Legal Reasons, enclosed CD-R contains no music. Use it as you will.” Un bel échec de l’industrie du disque.

Director David Lynch is working on the visual materials for this all-star crew. A book will also be released by about 100 photos by the master himself.

Can’t wait? Dark Night of the Soul is set to be released this summer.

UPDATE: due to a dispute with EMI for copyrights reasons, the album has been offered to the masses and can be streamed on the NPR website. The book can be ordered from the official website with a blank CD-R labeled “For Legal Reasons, enclosed CD-R contains no music. Use it as you will.” That’s quite a failure for the music industry.
