Can’t Hold On, MED (2005)

[FR] Derrière le pseudo MED (pour Medaphoar) se cache Nick Rodriguez tout droit sorti de notre bien-aimé label Stones Throw. Ce rappeur est surtout remarqué pour ses featurings aux côtés de Lootpack, Madvillain, Quasimoto ou encore Erykah Badu.

Hormis quelques singles entre 2001 et 2003, MED n’aura sorti qu’un seul et unique album : Push Comes To Shove. La production du disque est en grande partie assurée par Madlib, mais aussi par Oh No et le regretté J Dilla. De tout l’album, on relèvera tout particulièrement ce titre “Can’t Hold On” dont la basse lancinante berce le flow perçant du rappeur. Une perle du hip hop west coast, à s’écouter en balançant tranquillement la tête de haut en bas.

Apart from a few singles between 2001 and 2003, MED only released one LP: Push Comes To Shove. The production work on this album was mainly done by Madlib, Oh No and J Dilla. The track “Can’t Hold On” is one of the highlights on the disc with its insistent bassline and MED’s sharp flow. A real West Coast treasure that will make your head bobbing.
